The Berber villages of southern Tunisia…
Early departure from your hotel. We leave the island of Djerba by ferry, towards Medenine (coffee break). Continuation to Guermassa, considered one of the most formidable crest villages in southeastern Tunisia. Located some 10 km south-west of Ghomrassen, the old citadel of Guermessa, brings together an archaeological complex in its own right of world heritage.
Then direction to Chenini. The village climbs along a cliff, joining the ruins of a ksar at the top. Try to climb, the view is breathtaking! Visit of the semi-troglodyte houses accompanied by a local guide. Lunch in a troglodyte restaurant clinging to the mountainside.

08h00: Departure for Takrouna.
08:30: Arrival, visit of the Berber village, In the heart of a parched landscape of mountains, plateaus and steep peaks, the astonishing architectures of the Ksour arise. Lost in the middle of nowhere, like big rock-colored beehives, these “desert castles” (“ksour” is the plural of “ksar”) were once rallying points for the semi-nomads of the region who lived there. stored their harvests sheltered from looters, in stacked cells called “ghorfas”. Some Ksour, like Chenini and Douiret, are villages perched on impregnable peaks. Their ruined “ghorfas” merge with the top of the mountains and the dwellings there are partly dug into the rock walls. The Berber language is still in use there today. Further north, the landscape softens as you approach Gabès, the great oasis by the sea. (30 mins)

10:35 a.m.: Arrival in Jeradou, free time in the Berber village. Visit of the craftsmen of “Halfa”.
11:10 a.m.: Return to Sousse, via Hergla, panoramic view of the fishing port.
